Luckytoes Midnight & Conan rehomed together.

Oh i miss my foster babies soooooo much! I wish fostering had time limits but well, we all know that sometimes our temporary foster cases become almost permanent. Those long-term foster furbabies become just as precious and loved as our own darling pets. When they are adopted it feels like someone is taking away your pet! It's impossible to differentiate between the bond we share with our own and the bond we share with our longtime fosters..

Luckytoes Midnight joined my foster family before halloween last year. Conan joined us in April last year. They are definitely the record holders here for longest temporary foster furbabies EVER! They went to their new forever home in Cameron Highlands on Saturday the 19th of June 2010. I didn't report the move earlier because I wanted to see if it went well first.. I've had regular progress reports from their adopter. They had a shaky start. They were very scared, wouldn't eat. But finally after almost 2 weeks in their new home, I've had an excellent progress report! They're chowing down like never before, sleeping like the lazy pigs they are, playing and being sweet.

Congratulations to their adopter S, who took a chance on two fearful kitties and taught them how to trust her. Well done young lady!

But omg do i miss them sooooo much. I have shed sooo many tears for them and really piled on the drama. I miss their silly faces and goofy antics. I should add though, that all of you don't have to worry about molly missing conan.. she hasn't seemed to notice that he's gone.. thank god for that.

Division of Furkids, Separation of Molly & Conan

I've had to make some tough decisions lately what with being unemployed and breaking up with my longterm dude and having to find a new little place to live by myself.. I have to downsize drastically and will probably be living in an apartment soon. No more house with big yard for me and the pets. i can't afford all that.. and sadly i can't afford all of the pets either.. So Conan might be joining Luckytoes Midnight in Cameron Highlands. Luckytoes Midnight's adopter S, has expressed interest in adopting Conan as well.

Now, those of you who have been following the adventures of Molly and Conan know that I never intended to separate them. It was always the most important thing to me that Molly and Conan be adopted together.. But after fostering them for almost a year and half, well i just don't have any hope for that anymore. No one has wanted to adopt them together. And now i can't really be so picky about that. I have to take good adopters when they come and i think i have a good one for Conan now.

I'm sure some of you are wondering if molly and conan will be ok without each other. I can honestly say that conan will be just peachy. he weaned himself off molly's attentions a long time ago. he has become a cat in every sense of the word and now sees molly more as a nuisance than anything else. this is mostly due to molly's habit of picking him up by the scruff of his neck and running around the house with him dangling and swaying madly from her jaws. what was fun when he was a baby is now kinda painful. he's a fatty.

So, will Molly be ok without Conan? Now that i can't absolutely guarantee. She will notice he's gone. She does see him as a playmate, or as a plaything i suppose.. whatever it is, she is very aware of him even if he's just something to chase around the house. So yes i'm torn. I haven't totally made up my mind yet but my cousins and my brother and i are heading to cameron highlands this saturday the 19th to bring luckytoes midnight to her new home. will we be bringing conan with us? this is one of the toughest rehoming decisions i will ever have to make. its awful. i really thought someone would see the charm in having both molly and conan.. the little mismatched pair of three-legged dog and her little cat both in matching coat colors. but right now i don't even know what i will do with molly when i have to move out of this house. apartments here don't allow dogs and molly is a barker.

anyway it looks like after the division and rehoming of pets.. i will be left with 4 cats, fatfat, oscar the grouch (the girl), sparks and daisy mama cat.
my ex will have our two male dogs, tony montana and spike, and his cat coco.
molly will have to be rehomed and we are looking for a home for her now. i must have regular visitation rights and if money is a problem i will sponsor all molly's food, veterinary bills, treats, and toys for the rest of her life. I love that dog and i am heartbroken.

after all this is done i don't think i will be rescuing and fostering anymore. it's over.

Luckytoes Midnight is moving to Cameron Highlands

After speaking to a few potential adopters who were interested in adopting Luckytoes Midnight i have made up my mind and decided on a young teenage girl and her family who live in Cameron Highlands. The girl, whom I will call S in this post, grew up with a black kitty of her own, named Lucifer who recently died of old age. Of course, when you've spent most of your childhood with the companionship of a precious animal and its suddenly gone, this leaves a huge void. S was very excited when she saw Luckytoes Midnight in the newspaper and let me know that she really really really wanted to adopt her. Out of all the potential adopters, S was the most enthusiastic, most serious, called and texted me every few hours for updates on my interviews with other adopters. She kept checking to make sure she was still in the running. I like her attitude!!

Anyhoozers, I've decided that i want to send luckytoes midnight to her in cameron highlands. i've never been there and going there also gives me a chance to check out the home that luckytoes will be living in.. i've always wanted to go to cameron highlands.. its one of only two places in malaysia famous for its cold weather and fresh mountain air. i'll head up there with family or friends and after sending lucks to her new home we can check out the tea plantations, fields of strawberries and flowers, and the bunnies!! i suck at driving so we'll only be heading up to cameron highlands when someone is free to drive us up there.. i'm not good with hilly, winding roads.

I'm alive and potential adopters for luckytoes midnight

hi all! i know i've been totally MIA for a while but I have been receiving your emails and kind comments. i want to thank everyone for their support and encouragement! i haven't managed to sort out any of my dilemmas yet but my overall mood has improved a lot and i feel very much alive again. i'm ready to join the world and fix things. i'm single, broke, unemployed, and almost homeless but i'm in a good mood today so its all good. i will sort this shit out.

i received many phone calls today from people interested in finding out more about luckytoes midnight. from the bunch, two potential adopters are coming to my home tomorrow to meet her. this is all thanks to Ellen from the Katz and Other Tales blog. Ellen writes the Katz Tales column in The Star newspaper and today she featured luckytoes midnight in the "Adopt Me" box. Katz Tales is in the Weekender section of the paper. Make sure you check it out. wish us luck with the potential adopters! tomorrow could be the day that luckytoes finally finds a permanent home!

hey.. i know i've sorta been MIA lately.. i've got some personal drama going on and its non-animal welfare related so i'd rather not blog about it but its all i can think about at the moment so...... well i decided to avoid blogging altogether. anyways i wanted to report that Tutti Frutti did get adopted at last weekend's adoption drive. He was adopted on Sunday, the second day of the drive. So last weekend, i had two adoptions including Santo!! that's great and i wish them well in their new permanent homes. Luckytoes Midnight is still with me but a very nice lady who wrote about molly & conan for the Star newspaper last year is going to feature Luckytoes in an upcoming 'adopt me' section of the paper. let's hope we get some potential adopters from that..

SPCA Selangor Adoption Drive, May 22-23

Hello everyone,
Just a quick post to remind everyone that SPCA Selangor will have their adoption drive this weekend May 22-23 at Bangsar Shopping Center. We'll be there from 10am to 6pm both days. Please drop by and show your support, just say hi, adopt, or make a donation. To raise funds we've also got lots of SPCA merchandise for sale. They make great gifts!

There will be dogs and cats of all ages all needing homes so please spread the word and encourage your friends to adopt from a shelter instead of breed and buy from a petstore. My foster kittens Santo, Tutti Frutti, and Luckytoes Midnight will be there thanks to my dear friend Nic who brought them for their vaccinations yesterday. They are adoption drive ready and looking for permanent, loving homes.

Remember, don't breed and buy while shelter animals die. Hope to see some familiar faces tomorrow!

Adoption Drives This Weekend

This Sunday May 16, Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better (MDDB) will be having their regular adoption drive at The Summit USJ from 11am to 7pm. Find out more about it here. They've got lots and lots of rescued dogs and pups for adoption. Some are from the pounds and some are from the streets. Every one of them needs a home and lots of love.

SPCA Selangor will be having their AdoptionFest at Bangsar Shopping Center this Saturday the 15th and Sunday the 16th from 10am to 6pm. We'll be at the skybridge on the 1st floor that leads to the new wing! I'll try to bring Luckytoes Midnight on one of those days if she's not too freaked out. She's a big girl now and spayed and ready to go to a permanent home without dogs. I kinda thought of bringing Santo but its too soon.. I just found him yesterday! He still needs his shot and I still have to make sure he's totally germ free. He sneezed a couple of times today so... maybe a cold? well, definitely not anything i want to pass to the other animals at the adoption drive tomorrow.

Luckytoes Midnight still needs a home!

hello all!
i know i haven't mentioned luckytoes midnight for a while and i hope none of you have forgotten about her. the little twerpy rascal is still with me. i guess she just fits in so well with my crew that i forget that i'm supposed to be actively finding her a home. it feels like she's a permanent resident. but i really shouldn't have anymore permanent pets. more permanent residents means less room, money, and time for any fostering.

anyway just a quick update about her. She's about 9 months old now. She was spayed a couple of months ago. she's super naughty and can't resist grabbing my foot every time i walk past her. she's gentle though, no claws out when she does this. she and fatfat continue to share a close relationship. she's practically an adult now but still sticks to fatfat like a little baby and he indulges her.

She's a little nervy around people she doesn't know well, so she needs a patient adopter. a real cat lover that understands cats' quirks and behaviors and is willing to put in the effort to gain her trust. luckytoes was adopted for a couple of days and then returned for being shy. two days is nothing. we don't want adopters that think bonding with an animal should be an easy, instant process, because usually its not. So if you know anyone that really loves animals, cats in particular, please tell them about Luckytoes. Once she has bonded with someone and settled in, she's great to have around. You will never meet a clumsier, goofier, funnier cat. Yes, clumsy. She trips or falls down almost everyday.. its hilarious! Remember people, this little ray of sunshine got a second chance at life when she survived being run over by a car. Give her a chance to have a home too.

Dilemma - Luckytoes Midnight

Someone has offered to give Luckytoes Midnight a home if no one else wants her. I'm always a little unsure about 'last resort' homes. I appreciate the offers.. but i want my fosters to be adopted because they are truly, deeply wanted. Get what i mean? I don't want someone to take her on just because they don't mind feeding another cat. I want someone to WANT her. So she's more than 6 months old now and was spayed a couple of weeks ago. I have been fostering her since october of last year. What I want to know is, should i hold on to her and hope that someone will come along and want Lucks for how special she is? But then the longer Lucks is with me and the rest, the harder it will be for her to settle into a new home later.. or should i just go ahead and take the offer and check on her often? I don't know.. Its a good home, not a bad home, but just not exactly what i had in mind. Advice please? Thanks.

3 cats spayed this week!!

What's that sound? Do you hear that? No? It's the sound of my bank account balance rapidly moving towards ZERO! HAHAHAHAHAHA!! And that was my deranged laughter at the current state of my finances. What else can i do but laugh when i wanna go shopping soooo badly but can't coz of the animals? I really have to stop going to malls.. There's soooo much fabulous stuff i'm dying to wear!! I could just die.

Anyways this week the sri murni condo feral mother cat, luckytoes midnight, and snowy were all spayed. Mother cat is still at the vet. We're boarding her there for a few days coz we don't know what to do with her while she recovers. She's super wild and we can't release her nor keep her at home. Luckytoes and Snowy are home though, i picked them up yesterday morning and they're fine. Luckytoes was back to her naughty mischievious self the minute i let her out of her carrier. She doesn't seem to notice that she's had surgery. I had to stop her from trying to wrestle with her friends and jumping up on shelves. Snowy's ok too though a little more subdued. I'm keeping her away from her kittens Luna and Rajah because I don't want them to try to nurse. Anyway they're doing great on canned food now.

Once everyone has recovered they will leave us. The mother cat will return to my parents' condo compound where she will be released and fed by my brother and parents. She will not be rehomed. She's not pet material. Snowy will go with her son Rajah to a family in Putrajaya this coming chinese new year weekend. Luckytoes Midnight will go to a home in Titiwangsa and be friends with a cat that is so bored he has been plucking out his own fur in tufts.

Oh and.. mother cat's litter of four kittens? the two tamer ones Link and Dora have been adopted.. The two insanely feral ones, Stubbs and Runty are still at my parents' place..

LuckyToes Midnight needs a home

Lucky-Toes Midnight was rescued from a busy street in Sri Hartamas after being run over by a car. The poor little tyke is so young, she doesn't know how to cross the road but she tried anyway. Here's what happened that fateful day.

Her rescuer Sam was driving home with her two young daughters when they suddenly noticed a tiny kitten in front of them trying to cross the road alone. they were horrified and stopped to help but before they could do anything another car rushed past them and drove over the poor kitten!! the heartless prick in the other car didn't even slow down or check if he had killed the little furball. Sam and her kids rushed to the kitten who was trying to drag her body to safety across the road using just her front paws. it was a heartbreaking sight. they immediately bundled her up in their car and drove to a vet. x-rays were taken and it was determined that Lucky-Toes had suffered a fractured hind leg. It's a miracle that her injuries weren't worse!! This little kitten beat the odds and that is why her name is Lucky-Toes!!

The vet says that the fracture is minor and will heal on its own because Lucky-Toes has her health and youth on her side. She has much growing to do and is very resilient. She only needed her painkillers for a few days and now it is as if she was never injured at all.

The problem is, Lucky-Toes' rescuers can't keep her because the two little girls that helped save her are severely allergic to cats. Me, her temporary fosterer, i can't keep her either because i have 6 cats and 3 dogs. Can anyone give this loving kitty a home?

She is sweet, spunky, vocal, affectionate and fearless. She gets along well with other cats. Usually when i bring foster kitties home, my own cats are furious and hostile toward them.. but strangely enough, they welcomed Lucky-Toes with open paws.. not once did they hiss at her. in fact she fit in so well with them that i ended up putting her food bowl with the others. During feeding times, she joins the rest of the gang as they rush to their assigned bowls. She blended in like she was born in my house!! she even sleeps with the other cats now. this morning when i came out of my room she was at my door with all her new big fat cat friends meowing for breakfast.

UPDATE: Lucky-Toes has recovered well. She has no problem walking or running at all. Her limp is gone. She's about 5 months old.
