And off we go to our new homes.. all of us..

Yesterday the 31st of August, was the Malaysian independence day. I'm not patriotic so it means nothing to me, plus i'm a chink and my fellow malaysian chinks know what that means over here... second class citizens. But anyway f*** that. I'm not going to get political today. For me, yesterday had a different meaning, it was the last and final day at the house. The end of one of the most important and life-changing chapters of my life. Now I find myself strangely alone. It's a weird feeling and I'm a little lost. The ex and I were together for 5 years and lived together for 3. This breakup has been like a divorce.. Division of pets, property, the whole 9 yards. I'm just happy that we have parted amicably and will always be part of each other's lives. Still, i think its pretty traumatizing for all and I haven't slept well in weeks. Now that the house is empty and none of us are there anymore, this breakup feels all too real. ugh i know i'm not really making sense. just rambling. anyway this is supposed to be about the animals not me.

Molly moved to Az's home on Monday evening. I was there with her for about 6 hours and we hung out with Az and his dogs Kopi and his puppy, now named Sunday. Molly was nervous but willing to explore so I was optimistic.. when she first moved in with me, she was completely paralyzed with fear so this was a big improvement. She even ate lamb and chicken that Az prepared for her. She played with Sunday and wasn't too growly. I hoped everything would be ok when I left her there. Well she started to get a little barky and agitated towards the end of the night. I guess she sensed something was wrong and wanted to go home. We had her confined to a back area but when she saw me leaving she managed to get through and made a mad dash for the door. She was so panicked she pooped a little. My poor baby. Az told me that the next morning, she became very aggressive. We are working on that now.

I hope I never have to foster a dog ever again. It's too painful. I know we are supposed to maintain an emotional distance from our foster animals, but i just can't. People are always telling me not to get too attached. How can I not get attached? The only way to rehabilitate these animals, especially the abused ones, is to shower them with as much unconditional love as possible. If I could hold anything back, any love, then I wouldn't be fostering anyway. Know what I mean? I foster because I love. So yeah it hurts, it always hurts and now the thought of Molly being unhappy is killing me. There is a tightness in my chest that hasn't gone away since she left me. I am so worried and I miss her so much. I am always fighting back tears.

Tony and Spike moved to my ex's home last night. That was heartbreaking for me as well. I miss them already. Spike was so confused and whined a lot when he was left there. Tony was fine though, he lived there for a whole year before and seemed to remember it. I know they will be fine there. That house has like the biggest freaking yard ever. It's HUGE. They will have so much space and hopefully Tony won't always get cranky and attack Spike. Surely that giant yard is big enough for the both of them? Fingers crossed. I'll go over this weekend to bathe and walk them.

All the cats are fine in my new apartment except for Daisy Mama Cat. She really hates being indoors. She has been hiding behind the potted plants on the balcony since yesterday.

Silas the kitten was adopted this afternoon by a nice girl that has a 1 year old male orange tabby kitty.

Division of Furkids, Separation of Molly & Conan

I've had to make some tough decisions lately what with being unemployed and breaking up with my longterm dude and having to find a new little place to live by myself.. I have to downsize drastically and will probably be living in an apartment soon. No more house with big yard for me and the pets. i can't afford all that.. and sadly i can't afford all of the pets either.. So Conan might be joining Luckytoes Midnight in Cameron Highlands. Luckytoes Midnight's adopter S, has expressed interest in adopting Conan as well.

Now, those of you who have been following the adventures of Molly and Conan know that I never intended to separate them. It was always the most important thing to me that Molly and Conan be adopted together.. But after fostering them for almost a year and half, well i just don't have any hope for that anymore. No one has wanted to adopt them together. And now i can't really be so picky about that. I have to take good adopters when they come and i think i have a good one for Conan now.

I'm sure some of you are wondering if molly and conan will be ok without each other. I can honestly say that conan will be just peachy. he weaned himself off molly's attentions a long time ago. he has become a cat in every sense of the word and now sees molly more as a nuisance than anything else. this is mostly due to molly's habit of picking him up by the scruff of his neck and running around the house with him dangling and swaying madly from her jaws. what was fun when he was a baby is now kinda painful. he's a fatty.

So, will Molly be ok without Conan? Now that i can't absolutely guarantee. She will notice he's gone. She does see him as a playmate, or as a plaything i suppose.. whatever it is, she is very aware of him even if he's just something to chase around the house. So yes i'm torn. I haven't totally made up my mind yet but my cousins and my brother and i are heading to cameron highlands this saturday the 19th to bring luckytoes midnight to her new home. will we be bringing conan with us? this is one of the toughest rehoming decisions i will ever have to make. its awful. i really thought someone would see the charm in having both molly and conan.. the little mismatched pair of three-legged dog and her little cat both in matching coat colors. but right now i don't even know what i will do with molly when i have to move out of this house. apartments here don't allow dogs and molly is a barker.

anyway it looks like after the division and rehoming of pets.. i will be left with 4 cats, fatfat, oscar the grouch (the girl), sparks and daisy mama cat.
my ex will have our two male dogs, tony montana and spike, and his cat coco.
molly will have to be rehomed and we are looking for a home for her now. i must have regular visitation rights and if money is a problem i will sponsor all molly's food, veterinary bills, treats, and toys for the rest of her life. I love that dog and i am heartbroken.

after all this is done i don't think i will be rescuing and fostering anymore. it's over.

Permanent Residents

Oscar the Grouch a.k.a. The Girl, Girla, MeowWow.
Ninja the Ass-kicking cat, lovingly known to all as Fat Fat.
My original awesome twosome. The girl was found alone on the street by my friends when she was about 6 weeks old. FatFat was rescued by me and a friend when we were on our way to a hoobastank concert. He was about 2months old and people were abusing him.

Sparks, Sparklebutt, Sparkles
Found in the upstairs bathroom of a house when he was about 2 months old.

Coco
The resident stereotypical cat. Adopted after her owner moved away.

Daisy Mama Cat
Neighborhood stray that kept getting pregnant till I managed to catch and spay her.

Spike, Spotato, Spootata
I fostered him for a while, then couldn't give him up. I fell in love!

Tony Montana
Fell in love with him at an SPCA adoption drive. Walked around all day with him with a sign that said "Please Take Me Home". No one did, sooo.. A few days later, I did.

Molly and Conan
Permanent residents? I'm not sure.. That remains to be seen.. I've been fostering them since April 2009. It's been almost 9 months. I love them to bits! No one has expressed interest in adopting them. Molly was about 4 months old in this photo and Conan was almost 2 months old.
